The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has revealed its first-ever comprehensive Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Strategic Plan, which aims to incorporate these principles into the agency's daily operations.
The USCIS's 2023-2026 DEIA Strategic Plan outlines strategies to recruit and retain a diverse workforce, provide equitable access to services, and promote an inclusive environment for employees and stakeholders.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Ur M. Jaddou has stressed the significance of adhering to these principles. He stated that the plan aims to enhance the culture of DEIA within the agency.
In a statement issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Jaddou said, “As an agency that interacts with and welcomes individuals from across the world into a nation that values diversity and equal opportunity, it is crucial that we commit to these same principles for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services workforce.”
Jaddou further added, “This plan reaffirms our commitment to reinforcing a culture of DEIA within U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, where our employees are respected and included. We are proud to participate in this governmentwide effort to cultivate a dedicated workforce that is reflective of the United States.”
The plan aims to ensure leaders model DEIA, build a diverse workforce, provide equal opportunities, remove barriers hindering success, prioritize inclusivity and belonging, modernize infrastructures for accessibility, and maintain a respectful workplace.
The DEIA initiative is aligned with President Biden's Executive Order on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce, which aims to broaden employment opportunities for underrepresented communities and develop a federal workforce reflecting the nation's full diversity.
