The Swanton Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol declared an accelerated repatriation process for individuals illegally crossing the Canadian border into the United States.

This expedited process includes increased personnel support, transportation logistics, optimized procedures across the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice, and coordination between the State Department and foreign countries.

Through these efforts and cooperation with El Paso and Rio Grande Valley sectors, Swanton Sector has promptly repatriated 204 individuals to their home countries.

This marks a significant increase in the sector's ability to address illegal border crossings swiftly.

Swanton Sector Chief Patrol Agent Robert N. Garcia emphasized the importance of border security in maintaining national security and public safety. "These removals represent an undertaking aimed toward ensuring the delivery of consequences to uphold the laws of the United States and protect every U.S. citizen. Whether you live in a border town or anywhere else in our great country, we all share the real and potential adverse impacts of illicit cross-border activity if left unchecked," Garcia said.

The announcement serves as a reminder for individuals considering illegal entry along the northern border not to put their lives at risk during the dangerous journey, only to be sent back to their home countries eventually.

The U.S. Border Patrol and DHS will continue to impose consequences by optimizing repatriation efforts for those who unlawfully cross the border and enter the United States.

This increased focus on swiftly addressing illegal border crossings aims to discourage future attempts and maintain border security.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for the comprehensive management, control, and protection of the nation's borders. The agency combines customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection at and between official ports of entry.

The Swanton Sector, responsible for an expansive area of 24,000 square miles, encompasses several counties across Vermont, New York (Clinton, Essex, Franklin, St. Lawrence, Hamilton, and Herkimer Counties), and New Hampshire (Coos, Grafton, and Carroll Counties).
