India in Croatia celebrate India’s 73rd Republic Day

Indians in Croatia celebrate Republic Day with great enthusiasm and fervor

Commemorating its 73rd year, India celebrated Republic Day as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of independence. This year, India showcased its military might, cultural diversity, and many unique initiatives marking its 75 years of independence. The Indian Republic Day was celebrated across the Indian missions.

Ambassador Raj Shrivastav hosted the 73rd Republic Day Reception. He unfurled the national flag at the Chancery premises amid the gathering of all members and friends of India. Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi gave a video message to the Indian diaspora highlighting the strong connection between the two countries and appreciated the diverse cultural program organized by the Croatians on this special day.

Croatia State Secretary Frano Matusic also spoke about strengthening the partnership between the two countries as they celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations in 2022.

In a 90 minute program, the members came across an ideal empowering experience, which started with a rejuvenating "Sun Salutation — Surya Namaskar." Then, they ended the ceremony with a calm and blissful meditation.

Three Croatian dancers performed Kathak, Bharatnatyam, and Odissi dances, exemplifying India's diversity through dance forms.

On the occasion of Republic Day, the embassy launched a monthlong exhibition in Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and Rijeka as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The curtain raiser was attended by SPUD Zagreb Principal Filip Pintaric, Indian Ambassador Raj Shrivastav, Tomislav Buntak, Dean of Academy of Fine Arts, Uni. Zagreb, Svibor Jancic, Assembly in Zagreb, Lidija Zozoli, Minister of Culture and Media, Croatia.

Around 100 esteemed guests graced the event, including Parliamentarians, Former presidents, Ministers, Ambassadors, CEOs, Entrepreneurs, Artists, Academicians, Journalists, and Indians in Croatia. Indian choreographer Terence Lewis and Famous Singer Goran Karan, who composed the beautiful 'One World, One Family' song for this occasion, were the surprise attraction for the evening.
