Poland's Maria Krzysztof Byrski, honored with Padma Shri award

Poland’s former Ambassador to India, Professor Maria Krzysztof Byrski, was bestowed with India’s fourth-highest civilian award.

The Padma Shri recipient has a doctoral degree from the Banaras Hindu University and was a student of Indian Studies at the University of Warsaw.

Byrski has translated the Kamasutra and the Manusmriti into the Polish language.

He was Poland’s Ambassador to India from 1994 to 96.
