Indian Diaspora in Toronto celebrates Republic Day

The Indian Consulate in Toronto celebrated the 73rd Republic Day of India on Jan. 26, 2022.

The event was celebrated virtually due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Canada.

Consul General Apoorva Srivastava unfurled the Indian National Flag and read out the message from the President of India.

The President, in his message, said that Republic Day is celebrated to honor 'Our Indianness.' "It was on this day in 1950 that this sacred essence of us all assumed a formal shape. That day, India was established as the largest democratic republic," the message read.
