Indians in Uganda celebrate Republic Day

The Indian Embassy in Kampala, Uganda, celebrated India's 73rd Republic Day by spreading love, unanimity, and mutual respect for both countries. Under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,' Indian Embassy in Kampala commemorated 75 years of India's Independence, showcasing India's progressive path with glorious history and culture.

The event started with Indian High Commissioner A. Ajay Kumar unfurling the national flag and reading the President's message. Then, a contest was held where the Indian community participated with great enthusiasm making the event a success.

There was a short cultural performance by members of various Indian community Associations in Kampala.

As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, on National Youth Day, the Indian High Commission also organized an online painting competition. The winners of the competition were felicitated during Republic Day 2022 celebrations.

India and Uganda share a solid bilateral relationship. According to the estimated data, in 2019, approximately 30,000 Indians reside in Uganda, contributing to the country's development.
